Salvation - Published Through Amazon Self-Publishing

Let me introduce the newest author of the family from a long line of writers, which include poets, children's author, a contributing writer for travel publications and a political writer who also wrote speeches for a past Speaker-of-the-House.  The New author is my son Quinlan Powers and his book "Salvation" can be found at http://amzn.to/2G5rHkE.

This was a family adventure.  Quinlan wrote the book and then both his grandmother and I edited the book and his mother designed the cover. Yes I know, "Why didn't I illustrate the cover?" I was tasked with designing the book, setting up accounts, websites, domain names and everything else that is required to self publish through Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP.)

This is not a detailed look on how to self publish, but I did learn a lot myself. Amazon makes it easy for anyone to publish a book.  This book is only has been released as an eBook so far, but in the next week or so, it should be available in paper back.

Please check out the book at http://amzn.to/2G5rHkE. It is priced at $2.99. If you are a fan of science fiction, you will love this fast paced book.

GIMP 2.7.5 Official and 2.7.6 Unofficial Release

I have been using an "Unofficial" release of GIMP 2.7.5 from Partha.com (which is now hosting the Unofficial 2.7.6 version) but earlier this month the "Official" version was released. It is still in development but there have been a lot of great changes. The change log can be found HERE and the Official release can be found HERE.

My Personal preference is to the Partha builds.  They seem to be tweeked in a way that suits me.  Both versions can be installed at the same time, so experimenting between the two is easy.

Give it a try and let me know what you like or dislike and remember to report any issues.

Blender 2.6.2 Released

Blender Foundation has released version 2.6.2.  Blender is a professional grade CG suite and has come along way since their 2.4 version.  Even Lynda.com has created tutorials on Blender HERE.  What irony ...a commercial tutorial for an Open Source application.  Blender 2.6.2 change log and download can be found HERE.
