The Mummy

Happy Halloween!

In the spirit of Halloween (with no pun intended) I sketched the mummy rising from the grave.  The working title I gave him is "Uncle Ned".

I drew Uncle Ned in charcoal on Strathmore gray toned paper 9x12 pad. Primarily using General's HB and 2B for the darker tones.  For the main shading I used a Webril pad to rub in Willow charcoal and followed up with a stump for detailed work.  It is nice to work on the toned paper since the base tone is already there allowing one to use white charcoal for the lighter tones.

This is a leftover from last year. It is a different pose, but same procedure demonstrating one way to colorize a sketch. LINK: h...
